Christmas at the White House

Who doesn't love orchids! They have butterfly-like blossoms and vivid jewel-tone colors, and monochromatic arrangements are very effective, especially if there are enough textures (rough, smooth, spiky, et cetera) to make the composition lively. I like the way they have incorporated trailing vines and feathery foliage into the bouquet “to create dimension and add lightness.” Containers in leaves, moss, or stems of wheat to make the container and the arrangement become one entity are especially stunning. I am a big fan of threading arrangements, dancing branches to add a sense of movement. Look closely at the container to see that detail.
